Generally, phase transitions tend to occur toward less ordered phases as the temperature decreases. However, it is known that mixing two highly polar molecules can induce the reappearance of a highly ordered phase. This phenomenon is referred to as a reentrant liquid crystal, although its mechanism remains unclear. Therefore, we focused on the liquid crystal-polymer interface, which exhibits properties distinct from those of the bulk, and measured the interfacial viscoelasticity using a quartz crystal microbalance method.
