[17a-K204-4]Negative Temperature Dependence of High-Field Current in a Polymer

Keywords:
negative temperature dependence,parylene,electron avalanche
The negative temperature dependence of electrical conductivity, which is usually considered to be a characteristic of metals, is observed in parylene. This is because the high electric field current component is caused by electron avalanches, and is affected by lattice scattering similar to that of metals. However, the temperature dependence is at most one order of magnitude between -160°C and 100°C. However, in the case of a parylene bilayer, a large negative temperature dependence of more than two orders of magnitude is observed.
