This study used an open elliptical reflector with one end of the elliptical reflector open to focus underwater shock waves. Suppose a laser is used to generate underwater shock waves at the reflector's focal point. In that case, the shock waves are focused on another focal point due to the reflection property of ellipses, and a localized high-pressure region is generated. In this presentation, the relationship between the shapes of the open elliptical reflectors and the shock wave focusing phenomenon is clarified using numerical calculations, and the method for predicting the pressure at shock wave focusing based on the shapes of the reflectors is discussed.
