Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors (DMS) are next-generation novel magnetic materials, but there is a lack of understanding regarding their magnetic properties at the electronic level. This study aims to elucidate the mechanism of ferromagnetism in DMS by investigating the electronic state of In1.9Co0.1O3 before and after vacuum annealing. The investigation was conducted at the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization's PF-BL16A facility using soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and soft X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD).
The evaluation results showed a clear XMCD signal at the Co 2p-3d absorption edge of In1.9Co0.1O3, indicating that the magnetism originates from Co atoms. During the presentation, we will discuss the relationship between oxygen vacancies and ferromagnetism by analyzing the changes in the XAS spectra.
