Previously, we investigated when herringbone structures of organic semiconductors changed to stacking structures. Here we examine the crystal structures of NDI, PDI, large aromatic hydrocarbons, and the influence of various substituents. Since large aromatic hydrocarbons have stacking (gamma-) structures where the longest edge is used for the vertical interaction, the herringbone, θ-, and pitched p-stack structures are systematically derived from the gamma structure.
