Odor information serves as a valuable environmental cue even in conditions where vision and other sensing modalities are ineffective. This talk presents an odor-tracking technology in which biological olfaction, represented by insect antennae, is reconfigured as a sensor element and integrated into a small drone platform. Stable acquisition of weak biological signals is achieved through optimized electrode structures and sensor system design, while search performance is enhanced by a simple control scheme incorporating stationary periods and a sensor enclosure designed with drone airflow in mind. Potential applications in disaster response and infrastructure inspection are also discussed.
