To fabricate WS2 nanoribbons for device applications, we investigated the growth control of WOx nanowires as templates. Na2WO4/WOx film formed by sputtering and spin coating was used as a precursor, and high-density, quasi-oriented WOx nanowires were successfully grown by reacting with a trace amount of organosulfur. Furthermore, sulfurization of the WOx nanowire surfaces enabled the formation of flat monolayer WS2 nanoribbons on the WOx nanowires.
