near-infrared phosphors
In the synthesis of the near-infrared phosphor CaGeO4:Ni2+, the promotion of Ni substitution at the Ge site has been investigated by using the highly reactive NiCl2 raw material and reducing the Ge composition ratio relative to Ca. By reducing the Ge composition ratio, the absorption spectrum of Ni2+ becomes sharper and the emission becomes broader. The internal quantum efficiency is about 36 %, which is a high value for a phosphor activated only by Ni without co-doping with Cr.
