東京大学大学院教育学研究科教授、日本学術会議連携会員。東京大学大学院教育学研究科博士課程単位取得退学。博士（教育学）。日本労働研究機構研究員、東京大学社会科学研究所助教授等を経て、2008年より現職。専門は教育社会学。教育・仕事・家族という３つの社会領域間の関係に関する実証研究を主として行う。
