[2C06【若手学会賞】]Development of terahertz-field-driven scanning tunneling luminescence spectroscopy and its application to single-molecule luminescence measurements

Electroluminescence spectroscopy based on a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) is a unique technique for investigating optical properties with atomic-scale spatial resolution. However, its time resolution is limited because the tunneling electrons that serve as the excitation source are controlled by an electrical circuit. For overcoming this time resolution, we tried to combine this technique with an ultrafast STM technique known as terahertz-field-driven STM. We first measured the luminescence from a localized plasmon induced by terahertz-field-driven tunneling. And recently, we succeeded in detecting the luminescence from a single molecule. In this presentation, I would like to introduce our recent achievements.
