[2C11【招待講演】]Probing Local Structure and Chemical Bonding in Materials by X-ray Emission Spectroscopy at NanoTerasu: Observation of Ordering Preceding Zeolite Crystallization

Zeolite crystallization proceeds through structurally disordered precursors whose local organization is difficult to resolve by diffraction. Using high-resolution O 1s X-ray emission spectroscopy at NanoTerasu together with first-principles spectral calculations, we identified local ordering of the silicate framework before the appearance of long-range crystallinity. The spectral evolution was attributed primarily to ordering of the O–Si–O–Si torsion angles toward staggered configurations, indicating that three-dimensional torsional ordering is a prerequisite for zeolite crystallization. These results demonstrate that X-ray emission spectroscopy can reveal hidden local and intermediate-range structures in disordered materials through their occupied electronic states and chemical bonding.
