[2D01]Substrate Temperature Effects on Spontaneous Orientation Polarization in Amorphous Organic Thin Films

We investigated the effect of substrate temperature on the giant surface potential (GSP) of amorphous organic thin films over a temperature range of 110–320 K. For both Alq3 and TPBi thin films, the GSP increased as the substrate temperature was lowered from room temperature, but began to decrease below a certain temperature. Although previous studies have reported that lowering the substrate temperature from room temperature enhances the GSP, by extending the substrate temperature range down to 110 K, we demonstrated for the first time that substrate cooling does not simply lead to a monotonic increase in GSP.
