Kenaf-derived lignin copolymerized with polyacrylamide (KL-PAM) was developed as an aqueous binder for Si electrodes, and its thermally controlled dual stabilization mechanisms were cleared. Low-temperature treatment improved flexibility and adhesion, whereas high-temperature treatment enhanced conductivity through carbonization. Both approaches outperformed conventional binders. Therefore, both low- and high-temperature thermal treatment strategies are viable for lignin-based binders for Si electrodes, with distinct development pathways required according to their fundamentally different stabilization mechanisms.
