[3D09【依頼講演】]Visualizing subnanoscale hydration structures at solid-liquid interfaces by three-dimensional atomic force microscopy

Solid–liquid interfaces are important in many scientific and industrial fields. Conventional AFM mainly images 2D surfaces and cannot directly visualize 3D hydration or flexible structures. 3D-AFM overcomes this by scanning the tip vertically and laterally to generate 3D force maps, enabling subnanometer imaging of hydration layers and molecular chains on minerals, biomolecules, biomaterials, and polymers. In addition, recent speed improvements also allow observation of dynamic processes such as changes in the hydration structure associated with the dissolution of calcite. This presentation reviews recent developments in 3D-AFM technology and its applications.
