[S05]Life science-oriented Chemistry in Pharmaceutical Science: new drug discovery strategies and modalities for next-generation drug discovery

Thu. Mar 27, 2025 1:15 PM - 2:45 PM JST
Thu. Mar 27, 2025 4:15 AM - 5:45 AM UTC
Room 5 (Fukuoka International Congress Center: 202 [2F])
Organizer: Toru Komatsu (Grad. Sch. Pharm. Sci., Univ of Tokyo), Kenji Ohgane (Dept. Chem., Ochanomizu Univ.)
Traditionally, pharmaceuticals were mainly small molecule drugs that bind to cavities on target proteins. Recently, the targets and modalities of pharmaceuticals have become more diverse, and data-driven approaches that complement the limitations of the human brain have gained significant momentum. At the same time, we also believe traditional hypothesis-driven approaches and human expertise should not be underscored. At this year's symposium on "Life science-oriented Chemistry in Pharmaceutical Science," we focus on new drug discovery strategies and modalities, and we have invited lectures by up-and-coming researchers who aim to develop new drug discovery strategies/modalities by combining knowledge/technology from different fields of science. We hope this symposium serves as an opportunity for discussing the next-generation drug discovery.
