[S24]Cutting-Edge Technologies and Future Prospects for Combination Products

Thu. Mar 27, 2025 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM JST
Thu. Mar 27, 2025 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM UTC
Room 17 (MARINE MESSE FUKUOKA Hall B: Conference Room2-1 [2F])
Organizer: Suzuki Ryo (Fac. Pham. Sci., Teikyo Univ.), Eiichi Yamamoto (NIHS)
Drug Delivery System (DDS) is an important technology for optimal medical therapy. Various DDS formulations have been developed based on technologies such as controlled release, targeting, and absorption enhancement. Recently, there has been a focus on drug-medical device integration as a new type of DDS. In particular, the development of DDS using external energy is gaining momentum, with some therapeutic systems already approved or in clinical trials. The combination products that integrate drugs and medical devices are expected to increase in the near future. To keep up with this trend, it is considered important to establish frameworks  that enable collaboration between pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers from the early stages of research and development and to strengthen industry-academia-government collaboration. In this symposium, we would like to discuss future expectations based on the latest findings on combination products.
