Fri. Mar 28, 2025 1:15 PM - 2:45 PM JST
Fri. Mar 28, 2025 4:15 AM - 5:45 AM UTC
Fri. Mar 28, 2025 4:15 AM - 5:45 AM UTC
Room 9 (Fukuoka International Congress Center: 411 [4F])
Organizer: Kazuya Kusama (Tokyo Univ. Pharma and Life Sci.), Taiju Amano (Grad. Sch. Pharm., Hokkaido Univ.)
In recent years, the availability of sophisticated genetic engineering and expression analysis has led to the development of numerous methods for modifying each cell type. Therapeutic strategies have also been developed using specific cell types developed from pluripotent cells. Furthermore, the direction of drug discovery has advanced to a new stage based on the classification of cell types in each organ. This symposium aims to introduce the latest findings on cell modification methods and model development in each organ and discuss the future of drug discovery strategies led by the Young Scholar Encouragement Award recipients in Pharmacology section. Specifically, Kuse will discuss the potential application of liver organoids generated from human iPS cells to drug discovery research. Kato will introduce the current status of the design and application of microglia for treating dementia among the rich diversity of microglia. Kusama will present an attempt to explore new therapeutic strategies based on the creation of a pathological model using endometriosis organoids as a starting point. Morio will discuss strategies to apply immortalized human brain cells to develop therapies for central nervous system diseases. Amano will introduce strategies to pharmacologically manipulate specific cellular activities, starting from neural activity-specific cell labeling methods.
