Air conditioners have quickly become a necessity in the modern age with most of the population in developed countries owning one. Although there has been many existing research on the environmental impact of air conditioners, the effect that climate change and rapid development in Southeast Asia on air conditioner adoption, as well as trends in inverter technologies and newer refrigerant types have not been sufficiently studied. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a life-cycle assessment by estimating the adoption behaviour of air conditioners in Southeast Asia given average household income and rising global temperatures while using methods such as dynamic Material Flow Analysis.
