With the increasing global demand for palm oil, an abundance of organic waste generated from the production processes necessitates consideration upon the environmental impact with waste valorization. This study investigates the cradle-to-gate oil palm supply chain, focusing on potential waste valorization including waste biomass to energy, factory effluent to biofuels, and others. We conducted an LCA to evaluate the environmental impact of each scenario, and discussed the impact of palm oil and potential co-production with system expansion approach. Our findings highlighted significant opportunities for waste valorization in oil palm supply chain, and the priority of treatments for mitigating environmental impact.
