With interconnected global economies, the economic impacts of flooding pose significant concerns for both affected countries and their trade partners. This study proposes a sector-wise assessment of global direct economic losses, revealing an annual loss of US$194 billion across agriculture, industry, and services. Major risk-giving countries—China, India, the USA, Indonesia, and Egypt—account for over 50% of these losses. Additionally, emerging and developing nations in Asia and Africa may face indirect flood impacts due to concentrated imports from high-risk-giving countries. These findings highlight the need for trade diversification and support the selection of alternative suppliers for flood-resilient supply chains.
