Utilizing the Ground-to-topside Atmosphere Ionosphere model for Aeronomy (GAIA), we examined the impact of increasing CO2 on the formation of sporadic E (Es) by calculating the vertical ion convergence (VIC). Our investigation reveals that a doubling of CO2 concentration would lead to a general decrease in altitude and enhancement of VIC at altitudes 100-120 km, suggesting a possible significant alteration of Es occurrence in the future. This VIC enhancement and change are dominantly driven changes in the zonal wind at this altitude range. Our findings indicate that climate change enhances the ion convergence and is likely to enhance the frequency of Es occurrence.
