Integrated microelectronic device has been increasingly used for various applications, including biomedical implants. Power management circuits such as charge pump and power-on reset (POR) are typically used to provide sufficient supply voltage and power density for the device. Voltage comparator circuit is a common component of power management circuits and other analog circuits. Two-transistor (2T) topology has been conventionally used, but this topology has a high quiescent power consumption due to shoot-through current. To address this issue, we present a modified voltage comparator design that eliminates shoot-through current. This improvement allows the circuit to be used in low-power biomedical implants. Additionally, a pulse generation feature is added for applications where periodic over/undervoltage signaling is desired.
