In order to investigate the possible origin of field-free magnetization switching in the 2D-MXene/(Co/Pt multilayer) devices, interfacial magnetic and electronic states were measured via XMCD and angle-resolved HAXPES at the synchrotron radiation facility NanoTerasu. The Cr2N as a 2D-MXene phase was grown using a reactive sputtering technique. The Cr adjacent to the ferromagnetic Co layer shows polarization, and the electronic states of Cr near the interface modified by the Co was consistent with the adjacent layer of Cu. It is inferred that the field-free switching can be attributed to the polarization of Cr, rather than electronic states at the interface, which could be a source of z-polarized spin currents.
