Synchrotron radiation analysis was performed on particulates containing nuclear fuel materials collected from Fukushima-Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (1F) at JAEA beamline BL22XU of SPring-8. In this study, X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) using synchrotron radiation X-rays focused to 1 µm size were measured for the particulates collected by investigation inside the reactors of units 1 to 3 of 1F, and elucidated element distributions, crystal structures and chemical states of the main constituent elements such as uranium, plutonium and zirconium.
