Evening Sessions
Let's create a New encyclopedia of ergonomics together!
Date: Friday, May 23, 18:30-19:30
The Japanese Encyclopedia of Ergonomics (supervised by Masamitsu Oshima, past president of JES) was published by Maruzen Publishing in 2005, and 20 years have passed since then (see figure on the right).
The HFE Encyclopedia Project committee was established in JES to publish a new encyclopedia of HFE(Human Factors and Ergonomics) that meets the current social needs (committee chair: Takashi Toriiizuka, vice-chair: Takeshi Ebara).
The committee aims to publish a new encyclopedia of HFE with the aim of communicating the “big picture” and “vision” of HFE to society at large, and we would like to proceed with the editing of this project while asking for the opinions of colleagues related to HFE from the planning stage. | ![]() |
The main point of this encyclopedia is not to provide exhaustive explanations, but to select themes that are particularly important and of high interest to readers, and to compile them into a complete-text encyclopedia that is not only for research purposes but also has value as a “reading material”. Unlike the fragmented knowledge that can be easily obtained by searching terms on the Internet, we aim to create an encyclopedia that evokes the intellectual experience and learning pleasure of “reading, knowing, and further researching while grasping the whole picture”.
In this evening session, we will present the 10 chapters and 259 items of the encyclopedia that are currently being compiled by the committee, and everyone welcome to join and to talk about them and freely exchange opinions.
Let's cooperate with you and bring out the new official encyclopedia of HFE. The encyclopedia is scheduled to be published in July 2027.
No advance registration is required. Please gather at Halls C and D after the official banquet (evening, May 23) is over.
