[O12-P01]Huh?! The moon looks a bit bluish?!: Investigate the colors of turquoise fringes!

Turquoise fringing is known to occur due to absorption by the ozone layer. We conducted a study to investigate whether this is correct or not. We made color predictions considering the absorption of light by ozone. Subsequently, we observed the total lunar eclipse on September 8, 2025, from the rooftop of our school. Comparing the two results, we found that there were similar trends in the RVB ratio, leading us to conclude that turquoise fringing is likely influenced by the ozone layer. Simulations considering marginal extinction showed that the positional discrepancy between the Earth's umbra and the turquoise fringe was appropriate. This was due to the same mechanism as shadow blurring. However, regarding the color of the turquoise fringe, the R value of the observational result was much larger than the color prediction. This is thought to be due to the camera used being sensitive in the infrared region. Therefore, correcting the R data to bring the color prediction closer to the color seen with the naked eye is a future challenge.
