[O12-P02]A Study of Eclipsing Variable Stars Based on Light Curves

This study investigates the physical properties of an eclipsing variable star through observations and theoretical calculations. In Experiment 1, the target eclipsing variable star was observed, and an analysis was conducted based on the light curve constructed from the observational data. The results indicate that the two components form a close binary system sharing a common atmosphere, and that there is a difference in radius between the two bodies. In Experiment 2, we examined whether the radii of the two components could be determined under the assumption that both bodies emit light uniformly. This assumption was rejected, suggesting that the two bodies may have different brightnesses or that large starspots are present on one or both components. This study is expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of eclipsing variable stars and to promote further discussion of the origins of the universe.
