[O12-P06]Relationship between Solar Panels Layout and Power Generation Efficiency

In recent years, there has been a growing shift from fossil fuel-based power generation to solar power. However, in Japan, which has a large forest area, deforestation for the installation of solar panels is also on the rise. Deforestation, which leads to a decrease in plants that sequester carbon dioxide through photosynthesis, may conflict with the original purpose of solar power generation, which is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Therefore, we hypothesized that reducing the area occupied by solar panels might help curb deforestation, and we investigated this possibility. In the course of this research, we discovered a previous study that arranged solar panels based on the leaf arrangement of the Chinese hibiscus. Drawing inspiration from the tall goldenrod, which shares the same alternate leaf arrangement and is known for its rapid growth due to efficient photosynthesis, we conducted our own study by arranging solar panels in a three-dimensional configuration.
