Artificial corundum was synthesized by combining aluminum oxide with various metal oxides and subjecting the mixtures to arc discharge treatment. The effects of impurity type and concentration on color were systematically investigated. Increasing impurity concentrations resulted in progressively darker coloration, while the observed hues varied depending on the specific metal oxide employed. The synthesized materials were confirmed to be polycrystalline, indicating that gemstone color may be tunable through controlled impurity incorporation. Future work will involve quantitative colorimetric analysis and more rigorous objective evaluation.
