Our school is located in Koyasudai, Kanagawa-ku, Yokohama, and an outcrop of the Kanto Loam can be observed on the school grounds. We studied this outcrop through field surveys, preparing peel samples, and observing them under a stereomicroscope using the “wankake” method. As a result, we identified Hakone-Tokyo pumice (Hk-TP) and Miura pumice (MP). TP is an important marker layer in the lower part of the Kanto Loam covering the Musashino Plateau.

Although some borehole data have been published around our school, they lack detailed geological information. Therefore, to investigate the geology in more detail, we carried out a drilling survey using a hand auger at a site at a similar elevation to the TP-bearing outcrop, where TP was expected to be present.

In this presentation, we report the detailed results of the boring survey and discuss future perspectives.
