[U15-P10]Factors influencing the occurrence of sediment disasters caused by the January 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake and the September 2024 Oku-Noto heavy rainfall

Numerous landslides and slope failures were triggered by the January 2024 earthquake in the northern Noto Peninsula. Subsequently, the September 2024 heavy rainfall caused severe flood and sediment disasters, primarily in the areas affected by the earthquake. It has been suggested that ground weakening caused by the January earthquake contributed to the disasters triggered by the September rainfall; however, the details have not been fully clarified. We analyzed the factors influencing the disasters caused by the 2024 earthquake and heavy rainfall in the Monzen and Machino areas of the northern Noto Peninsula using machine learning. The results revealed that in both the Monzen and Machino areas, geomorphic changes induced by the earthquake had a significant influence on the sediment disasters caused by the heavy rainfall. In both areas, forests were suggested to have inhibited the occurrence of shalow landslides; however, no such inhibitory effect was observed for deep-seated landslides. In the Machino area, it was also suggested that the dip-slope structure of siliceous mudstone and past land use influenced the sediment disasters during the earthquake.
