The field of atmospheric and hydrospheric sciences deals with the diverse and dynamic layers of over the Earth, including the atmosphere, oceans, terrestrial hydrosphere, cryosphere, and humanosphere. The aim is to gain a detailed understanding of their past and present dynamics and long-term changes, while also advancing the science that enables future predictions. Through continuous observation and modeling using interdisciplinary approaches spanning physics, chemistry, and biology, the complex interactions linking these spheres are elucidated. Beyond its academic significance, this field is essential for the conservation of the Earth environment and for building a sustainable society with a bright future.

The Science Council of Japan's Committee on Earth and Planetary Sciences issued the report “Science and Dream Roadmap (Revised) 2020 for the Earth and Planetary Sciences Field” in 2020. Six years have passed, and the time has come for a new revision. This presentation will continue the discussion from last year on revising the Dream Roadmap, referencing the future visions of related academic societies and the Science Council of Japan's 2023 proposal “Future Vision for Academic Promotion (2023 Edition)”.
