We investigated the potential transmission effect of graphene during van der Waals epitaxy by growing monolayer MoS2 on monolayer graphene (MG) and twisted bilayer graphene (TBG) using the CVD method. On MG, MoS2 grew with an orientation aligned to the graphene lattice, consistent with previous studies. On TBG, MoS2 showed two distinct orientations, each corresponding to the alignment of the two graphene layers. This result demonstrates that the potential of the lower graphene layer penetrates through the upper graphene layer and influences the growth orientation of MoS2. Our findings provide experimental evidence that graphene’s potential is transmitted through layers in van der Waals epitaxy, affecting crystal growth.
