This study analyzed the relationship between English proficiency and cognitive and generic skills in engineering students. English proficiency showed a positive correlation with self-regulation–related generic skills but a negative correlation with other generic skills. The findings suggest that fostering perspective-taking and social awareness is essential in developing engineers capable of global collaboration.
