In a PBL course in which students work in mixed grade teams, we organized teams by incorporating students' self-perceptions of their roles in the team. As a result, students' self-perceptions were affected by their awareness during the activities, and although there were some changes in their perceptions before and after the course, the students as a whole were able to work effectively as a team.
