The 94th Congress of the Japanese Society for Parasitology will be held for two days from Tuesday 18 to Wednesday 19 March 2025 at the Osaka University Convention Centre on the Suita Campus of Osaka University. As in previous years, the conference will be held face-to-face and all presentations will be given in oral sessions.
Compared to viral and bacterial infections, parasitic infections are less prevalent in developed countries, including Japan, and are mostly a problem in developing countries. Due to the lack of urgency within developed countries, research activity tends to be lower than in viral and bacterial research. Meanwhile, parasitic diseases lag behind the development of effective vaccines and therapeutics, and their promotion is an important international public health issue. What we, as parasitology researchers, can do in this situation is to steadily accumulate results without stopping our own research. We should also use our research activities to encourage as many young people as possible to take an interest in parasite research and to convey to them its importance and the thrill of research. The national conference will be a place for presentations and discussions to improve research, and a stage for undergraduate and postgraduate students to present their first results. All the administrative staff will be honoured if we can contribute in any way to the continuation and development of parasitological research.
