[1G09]Imaging charge density wave domains in 2H-NbSe2 using scanning tunneling microscopy

We investigated the domain structure of charge density waves (CDWs) in 2H-NbSe2 using low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy. By mapping the displacements of CDW wavefronts relative to the atomic lattice, we identified alternating triangular domains composed of two distinct commensurate structures. The observed domain pattern is consistent with phenomenological predictions based on Landau theory.
