Hydrogen boride (HB) nanosheets are light weight two-dimensional materials that consist of negatively charged hexagonal boron network and positively charged hydrogen at a molar ratio of 1:1. In this work, we found that ammonia functionalization of HB can weaken the terminal B-H bonds. We also found that hydrogen desorption from HB was delayed for about 50 K after ammonia modification, indicating suppression at lower temperatures and release upon thermal decomposition of ammonia. Further details about ammonia functionalization of HB will be presented.
