In Weissenberg RHEED (W-RHEED), hundreds of RHEED patterns were captured while rotating the sample in the same way as the Weissenberg camera for X-ray diffraction. Hundreds of patterns were typically measured at every 0.2° during the sample rotation. It only takes about 10~30min. A 3D reciprocal map can be reconstructed from the patterns. The surface structure is analyzed based on the kinematical theory. 3D Patterson function was calculated from the reciprocal map by the Fourier transformation. In some cases, the surface structure can be solved model-free by analyzing the Patterson function.
