[2I02]Controlling the Spin Orientation of Single-Atom Magnets using Dynamic Force Microscopy

In this study, we read and control the spin orientation of holmium atoms on MgO thin films using dynamic force microscopy (DFM). We present DFM images of Ho atoms with spin-up and spin-down. The spin orientation is controlled by reducing the tip-sample distance. Our findings open the possibility of achieving information storage with less dissipative current.
