Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a class of porous organic materials with promising applications in gas storage, sensing, and catalysis. This study focuses on the structural characterization of COF thin films using scanning probe microscopy. The films were synthesized at the air–liquid interface via a dehydration condensation reaction between 1,3,5-tris(4-aminophenyl)benzene and terephthalaldehyde. Atomic force microscopy revealed notable morphological inhomogeneity across different regions of the film, suggesting variations in COF formation. In addition, improvements in the film-transfer process from the interface to the Si substrate may be necessary to achieve better uniformity in film thickness.
