[1A09【依頼講演】]Visualization of molecular orbitals in organic semiconductor thin films

Since the organic semiconductor films consist of weakly interacting molecules, their properties depend strongly on molecular arrangement, orientation, and local structure. Local probes are therefore essential. This presentation introduces two approaches using mainly scanning tunneling microscopy. The first example is a Li-endohedral C60 thin film. Although its conventional molecular orbitals show little delocalization, we directly observed strong intermolecular delocalization of supra-atomic molecular orbitals, which extend beyond the molecular cage. The second example is molecular orbital tomography. It reconstructs averaged orbital information from angle-resolved photoemission data and complements local STM measurements. We applied it to examine multi-orbital hybridization in the frontier orbitals of high-mobility DPh-BTBT films.
