[JS11★☆]Decoding Homeostasis, Aging, and Disease through the Lens of Vascular Biology and Pharmaceutical Science

Sat. Mar 28, 2026 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM JST
Sat. Mar 28, 2026 6:30 AM - 8:30 AM UTC
Room 16 (A101, Bldg. 1, Area 3 [1F])
Organizer: Keisuke Shirakura (Grad. Sch. Pharm., UOsaka), Hiroyuki Nakajima (National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center Research Inst.), Yoshiaki Okada (Grad. Sch. Pharm., UOsaka)
Co-sponsored by:
The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan,
The Japanese Vascular Biology and Medicine Organization
This symposium focuses on blood vessels and discusses their roles in homeostasis, aging, and disease. By supplying oxygen and nutrients throughout the body, blood vessels play an indispensable role in maintaining tissue functions and homeostasis. Their structural and functional alterations can trigger aging and diseases. The physiology and pathology of blood vessels help us not only understand disease mechanisms but also develop new therapeutic targets and drug delivery systems.
Co-hosted with the Japanese Vascular Biology and Medicine Organization (JVBMO), this symposium brings together outstanding vascular biologists to present cutting-edge studies—using advanced imaging and other techniques—on molecular transport and permeability in blood vessels, the roles of blood vessels in aging and disease, and vascular-targeted therapeutics.
Insights from a vascular biology perspective will drive the development of novel pharmacological strategies and therapeutics targeting the vasculature—an area that has long remained underexplored in drug discovery. This symposium aims to pioneer a new interdisciplinary field at the intersection of vascular biology and pharmaceutical sciences.
