Co-sponsored by:
The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan,
the Japanese Society of Pharmaceutical Health Care and Sciences
Established in July 2023, the Federation of Japanese Pharmaceutical Societies serves as a platform for exchanging knowledge among basic and clinical researchers. The Federation brings together the collective expertise of pharmaceutical scientists to play a critical role in advancing cancer treatment and improving patients' quality of life. Many cancer patients experience various negative effects associated with pharmaceutics, as well as psychological and financial challenges. Consequently, clinical pharmacists are essential in cancer care, serving as professionals who identify the multifaceted problems affecting patients' daily lives and addressing them through their pharmaceutical expertise. In clinical practice, clinical pharmacists can improve patient satisfaction and quality of life by gathering and analyzing information related to emerging issues and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to optimize pharmacotherapy. Additionally, the continuous lack of evidence in real-world settings presents ongoing challenges, requiring clinical pharmacists to take on a greater role in development of new, practice-relevant evidence. This symposium is the third jointly organized by the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan and the Japanese Society of Pharmaceutical Health Care and Sciences. It brings together oncology pharmacists, certified oncology pharmacy specialists, and other experts to discuss the importance of clinical research and the generation of new evidence. Participants will discuss strategies for clinical questions into research questions that can be disseminated as academic publications, methodologies for conducting high-quality clinical research, and approaches for translating newly generated evidence into clinical practice. We anticipate that this symposium will catalyze the next generation of cancer care.
