Room 16 (A101, Bldg. 1, Area 3 [1F])

The Nagai Memorial Pharmaceutical Research Encouragement and Support Program is one of the major initiatives of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan. It was established with the aim of fostering diverse pharmacists and pharmaceutical researchers who obtain doctoral degrees and contribute to the sustainable development of pharmaceutical sciences. Since its launch in 2015, the program has been operated with a primary focus on providing research encouragement support to graduate students affiliated with the Society, and has played a significant role in promoting the growth of young researchers in pharmaceutical sciences.
In this symposium, we will first introduce the purpose, significance, and underlying philosophy of the program, as well as its historical background and the role it has played within the pharmaceutical community. This will be followed by presentations by the recipients of the Nagai Memorial Young Pharmaceutical Researchers Award, a commendation program established in fiscal year 2022.
This award is presented to young members of the Society who previously received support from the Nagai Memorial Pharmaceutical Research Encouragement and Support Program, obtained their doctoral degrees, and are currently engaged in pharmaceutical research. The award recipients will share their perspectives on how being selected for the program influenced their approach to research, the research they conducted during the support period or are currently pursuing, the type of researcher they aspire to become, their views on the future of pharmaceutical sciences, and messages to pharmacy students who are considering applying to the program.
Through these presentations, we aim to showcase the outcomes of the Nagai Memorial Pharmaceutical Research Encouragement and Support Program to a broader audience and to provide inspiration for the next generation of pharmaceutical researchers.
Finally, Dr. Itsuko Ishii, President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan, is scheduled to offer concluding remarks, including an overview of the program and perspectives on its future development.
