This session offers a pilot workshop to strengthen the professional capacity of university administrative staff, drawing on the experience of UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific), a multilateral framework for student mobility in the Asia Pacific region. The workshop will be led by instructors from Malaysia which is the current UMAP International Secretariat, and Canada that served as the International Secretariat until 2025.The workshop will focus on practical topics including international partnerships, student mobility program design, and bilateral and multilateral exchange models such as UMAP. It will also address key competencies required of staff engaged in international education. Through interactive activities, participants will gain practical insights for work.Aligned with the 2026 SIIEJ goal of building an All-Japan International Education Platform, the workshop will encourage reflection on future collaboration in the Asia Pacific region. Content will be shaped through a pre-workshop survey to identify participants’ needs, with the aim of delivering a practical program.
