Protein crystals grown in the microgravity environment realized in the space station tend to grow larger than those on the ground, providing new insights in the fields of such as medicine and biology. However, experiments in space are subject to various constraints such as cost, time, opportunity, safety, etc. Therefore, developing an alternative technology for space experiments is attracting much attention, and diamagnetic levitation is a promising technique as one of the candidates. However, magnetic levitation usually requires an extraordinarily powerful magnet. Recently, we performed a precise computer simulation of the magnetic field distribution, where multiple permanent magnets were arranged in a specific arrangement. Furthermore, we succeeded in realizing diamagnetic levitation of water and several kinds of powder of solid like alumina and sodium chloride. In this paper, we report the levitation of aqueous solution of lysozyme using our levitation method and observation of recrystallization process of lysozyme under the levitation condition.
