We designed, fabricated and characterized a vertical metal-insulator-metal channel-type (c-MIM) plasmonic nanostructure geared towards highly sensitive and robust gas sensing. We will discuss the geometrical impact of our design on the frequency selectivity, electromagnetic field distribution, and absorption tunability of the c-MIM structures based on our experimental and numerical results.
