This study explores the use of nanophotonics and plasmonics to tune optical properties. Various fabrication methods have been employed to create diverse nanostructures, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. We achieved wide wavelength tuning and full colors using random nanohemisphere-on-mirror (NHoM) structures. These structures exhibited color quality comparable to periodic structures and improved sensor performance, enabling successful colorimetric sensing. We also controlled resonance spectra in the deep ultraviolet (UV) and near-infrared (IR) regions using similar random structures. Heat treatments were found to enhance the optical properties of Au and Ag nano-disks, allowing for flexible tuning of plasmonic properties. One futuristic application is the development of high-efficiency light-emitting diodes (LEDs), for which the researchers propose a method using dielectric thin films to enhance emission efficiencies. We also introduce an approach using dielectr ic thin films and UV laser irradiation, simplifying LED applications without specialized light extraction structures. These advancements pave the way for highly efficient RGB LEDs and micro-LED displays.
