Altermagnetism through the distinctive band structures has been attentioned. However, the probing techniqus to detect altermagnetism are limited. We focus on an altermagnetism in RuO2. We developed angular-dependent x-ray magnetic linear dichroism (XMLD) to detect altermagnetism. From the spectral analysis, we evaluate the quadrupole contribution in Ru sites.
